A prequel follows an obedient Echo Hunter whose encounter with a memory changes his allegiance.
Set one year before Echo Hunter, this is a separate film rather than an alternate title for the original.
A return to an established world raises the standard for continuity: the visual language must carry over, while a new central perspective gives the story a reason to exist. Its named performers and composer also make the human contributions more visible than a blanket ‘AI film’ label would.
